Cool bypass switches

ST's cool bypass switches provide a system-in-package (SiP) solution for photovoltaic applications by performing a cool bypass rectification similar to that of conventional Schottky diodes but with a much lower forward voltage drop and reverse leakage current.

Cool bypass switches consist of a power MOSFET accurately controlled in order to reduce the power dissipation. The SiP approach increases the reliability of the system (high robustness to ESD and surges) and features very low leakage current.
