ST’s analog controllers are compact, simple and cost effective, and represent an integrated solution to sense and control the current in DC or stepper motors. When used in conjunction with single or dual H-bridge products, the chipset forms a constant-current drive for an inductive load and performs all interface functions from the control logic through to the power stage.

ST also provides solutions where the controller and the power stage are embedded in a single IC as for the powerSPIN family.
