Network the office world with the industrial world: you will then be able to access your machine data at any time and from any location.

Do you want to control your automation using familiar mechanisms? EtherNet/IP™ (Ethernet Industrial Protocol) is an open industrial fieldbus system. It is specified and maintained by the ODVA (Open DeviceNet™ Vendors Association). In addition, EtherNet/IP™ is standardized in the IEC 61158 series of international standards.

Your advantages

  • Consistency between office and industrial networks – thanks to Ethernet standards
  • Easy address assignment, with familiar Ethernet mechanisms such as DHCP and BootP
  • Fast startup and convenient diagnostics, thanks to web servers on EtherNet/IP™ devices

EtherNet/IP™: open and widely used

You can rely on an open and widely used fieldbus system: with EtherNet/IP™, the CIP (Common Industrial Protocol) is used via the conventional Ethernet network.

What this means for you:

  • Compatibility with previously used Ethernet hardware is ensured.
  • You have access to all data at device level, even via the Internet – thanks to Ethernet and the TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols.
  • EtherNet/IP™ is also suitable for large volumes of data, thanks to high transmission speeds of 10/100 Mbps (which can also be combined).
  • Data transmission can be performed both cyclically and acyclically.
  • EtherNet/IP™ uses the producer/consumer model.

EtherNet/IP™: I/O components for every application

With a modular design
Our bus couplers for EtherNet/IP™ enable the operation of modular I/O stations in the control cabinet or in the field. With regard to the architecture, the fieldbus coupler is a slave in the EtherNet/IP™ network and the master in the local bus.
Maximum flexibility: with the Inline Modular automation kit, form follows function. Design each I/O as requested and save space in the control cabinet.
Modular in the field: I/O devices in the Fieldline Modular series offer maximum freedom for field installation. Functional and can be customized to your application.

With a block design
Extremely robust: the devices in the Axioline E series with a block design for EtherNet/IP™ always provide an individual solution thanks to the different housing versions and a wide range of functions.
In addition to standard digital functions, IO-Link communication also provides maximum flexibility here.

Network isolators for EtherNet/IP™

Our isolators are used for electrical isolation up to 4 kV in copper-based Ethernet networks. You can therefore protect your Ethernet devices and interfaces. This significantly increases immunity to interference under industrial conditions.

  • The devices meet the requirements for railway applications according to EN 50155 and EN 50121.

Minimizing the data load through EtherNet/IP switches

Our industrial switches have multicast filter and querier functions for optimum EtherNet/IP™ support. These functions can be used to forward data packets to only those devices that also require the data. This minimizes the data load in the network and ensures a high level of availability.

The Advanced Managed Switches in the 7000 series are the first Industrial Ethernet switches to support the Device Level Ring (DLR) redundancy mechanism specified in EtherNet/IP™. This lets you achieve maximum system availability through nearly seamless switch-over in less than 3 ms in the event of supply systems failures and integrate multiple non-DLR-enabled devices into a DLR ring.
For easy configuration and diagnosis directly in the EtherNet/IP™ control system, the Advanced Managed Switches support the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP).
