DIOTEC current limiting diodes are specialised semiconductor components designed to limit current flow in electronic circuits without the need for additional active components or resistors. They are particularly useful in applications where simple, reliable protection against current overload and stabilisation of operating parameters are required.

Typical operating values for these components are operating current in the range from 0.006 A to 0.04 A, maximum operating voltage up to 190 V and power dissipation equal to 1 W. These characteristics make DIOTEC current limiting diodes ideal for low-current applications such as sensors, signal lines, battery power supplies and any circuits requiring precise current limitation.

They are available exclusively in a surface-mount (SMD) version, which allows for easy integration into modern electronic systems. Typical housings include SOD-123FL, MiniMelf (DO-213AA), SMA (DO-214AC) and SMB (DO-214AA) – all offering compact dimensions while maintaining excellent thermal and electrical properties.

Applications for DIOTEC current limiting diodes include:

  • overcurrent protection in digital and analogue circuits,
  • start-up current limiting in input circuits,
  • stabilisation of operating conditions for sensors and low-current components,
  • miniature power supply and charging circuits,
  • protection of components in IoT systems and consumer electronics.

Thanks to their simple operation, high durability and small size, DIOTEC current limiting diodes are an attractive alternative to traditional current limiting methods, offering a more compact and reliable solution.
